Posted by Jamie Ramage on 7 May 2019
The curtain to another successful season was brought down in style with the annual Dinner and Awards evening. This year held at the John Fretwell Centre where players that represented North Notts across the 9 teams both men’s and ladies attended.
It was an enjoyable evening as everyone reminisced over an eventful season. There were awards for players from every team with captains and player’s picking their teammates who contributed significantly to their sides.

The men enjoyed a league winning season and they also picked up their medals for their achievement.
It was great to see so many of our younger players picking up awards with Jack Clarke, Owen White, and Dylan Baker named captain’s player of the season for the men’s thirds, fourths and fifths respectively.
While for the Ladies Anna Busby picked up the lady’s fours player’s player of the year and Most improved under 18 girl. There was high praise for Anna indeed “She started this season as a hard worker but had a clumsy style, but over the season she has improved her stick and ball skills and started to develop a good hockey brain.”
There were also awards that went to players who have shown an extra level of commitment in the Shakespeare and Workman awards. This year the Chris Shakespeare award went to Clare Hayes who does a lot for the club from coaching with the juniors to becoming a regular first-team player.
The Bill Workman is awarded to someone that shows real dedication to umpiring. Without those that volunteer to umpire, we would be able to run an action-packed day of games. This year the award went to Gregg Cartwright who if you need him during the day is usually found at Manor either umpiring playing or encouraging our teams on.
North Notts is a club that is full of committed players and all the awards were thought long and hard over.
The season was kindly supported by LPM Plant Hire based in Nottinghamshire.
